Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia is the third largest resort on the Balearic Island of Ibiza and is one of the more popular resorts for families, who don’t want to bump into the club lovers and hippies. You won’t find any all nightclubs here, just a charming and tranquil resort with a beautiful beach and an excellent choice of restaurants and accommodation.

There is a beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the broad and sandy beach and some excellent self-catering apartments in and around the town itself. You can rent these via www.spain-holiday.com. Santa Eulalalia is situated approximately 21 kilometres from Ibiza airport.

Around town
Santa Eulalia is established as one of the island’s cultural and gastronomic centres, with art galleries, artisan shops, interesting monuments and architectural attractions, and a history in gastronomy.

The main street of Calle San Jaime is located next to this street is the town’s main squar, which is brimming with flowers, and here you will find interesting arts and crafts vendors, here is also located the historic town hall building.

Across the square is the Paseo (Mariners Promenade), with views to the beach. This is a charming promenade that leads along the sandy beach; perfect for an evening stroll, before your aperitif and seafood dinner.

The yacht marina is home to some of the island’s best restaurants and some incredible yachts are moored here, a great people watching spot. There are also some lovely boutiques and shops to shop or window shop.

You can catch a boat from the old ferry jetty, which will take you to explore the rest of the island, visiting the bays of Es Canar, Cala Pada, Cala Llonga and into Ibiza Town (Eivissa). You can also catch a ferry on a day trip to the beautiful island of Formentera.

Cultural attractions
Approaching Santa Eulalia from the west, you cross a narrow bridge, with an ancient Roman bridge to your right.

Visit the fascinating 16th century architecture of the Church of our Lady of Jesus, at the summit of the Puig de Missa (Hill of Mass.. From the top you get a panoramic view of the municipality of Santa Eulalia, including the Santa Gertrudis, Es Caná, San Carlos and the beautiful bay of Cala Llonga.

Eating out
Along the promenade, you pass a colourful array of restaurants and cafés, from budget diners to most exclusive restaurants on Ibiza, and within the marina you will also find some lovely seafood restaurants.

Cuisine
Ibiza cuisine is a combination of fresh rustic cooking, seafood and tapas. Here you will have the opportunity to sample the fresh ‘catch of the day’, which might be lobster, crab, swordfish, or succulent grilled prawns. Paella is also a speciality, and other typical Spanish dishes such as tortilla, meat stews and tapas are abundantly available on Ibiza.

Climate
The summer season in Ibiza generally starts in the month of May and stays on average within the late 20ºc, early 30ºC right through until September. There is very little rain until November, but the winter does stay generally mild also; with some rainfall and chilly days from November to April.

Wij zijn op meerdere plaatsen op Ibiza geweest en vinden hier tot nu toe de stranden het minst. Santa Eularia is geen gezellig stadje. Gelukkig zaten we ook dichtbij Eivissa.

Lovely place for relaxation, lots of bars and restaurants but not crazy. Not as many seafood restaurants as I had hoped for given the location and lots of tribute acts to enjoy(!) at various places. Beaches lovely and furthest cove great for swimming. Boats available to Ibiza Town, Formentera etc, easy to get around, generally a great resort if you don't want to go too crazy in Ibiza with the massses.

Het huis staat in Cala Llonga, plaatsje naast St Eularia en is echt een gemoedelijk dorpje met veel voorzieningen. Echt geschikt voor gezinnen.
