Camp de MarThe holiday resort of Camp de Mar, along with the towns of Andratx, Port d’Andratx, S’Arracó, and Sant Elm, are the main resorts that come under the municipal district of Andratx on the south west coast of Mallorca.
The resort was purpose developed during the 80s to feed the growing tourism within the area, and is now made up of hotels, and rented holiday villas and apartments. However, it has managed to retain the feel of a small and upmarket resort and is ideal for those wishing to enjoy a nice relaxing holiday, away from the crowds.
The journey time from Palma airport to Camp de Mar is approximately 40 minutes.
BeachesThe local beach at Camp de Mar is 180 metres long, and backed by hotels and apartment complexes. There are sun loungers, parasols and pedalos to hire.
The nearby beaches of Ses Dones, Santa Ponsa and Paguera are worth a visit.
Around townOne of the main attractions of Camp de Mar is the small island, just off shore, which can be reached by the wooden footbridge. On the island there is a restaurant, where you can enjoy a lovely traditional seafood lunch.
Camp de Mar offers the facilities and services of a small resort town, with supermarkets, small shops, a bank, travel currency office, a doctor’s surgery, restaurants and bars.
Leisure & RecreationTake a boat trip from Camp de Mar to explore the rest of the Island, or to visit the Dragonera Natural Park on Dragonera Island; take in a round of golf at the local Golf Santa Ponsa 1, II and III courses.
MarketsThe nearest market is at Andratx and takes place on a Wednesday, you can also visit Palma’s market on a Saturday, but actually the market at Andratx is better. Better still is the market held at Inca, in the centre of the island, which takes place on a Thursday.
Eating outLocal Spanish snack bars and restaurants are popular and serve good quality food and reasonable prices. However, there are also international choices in the town, and for more options, you can hop in the car to the nearby towns of Praguera or Santa Ponsa.
ClimateThe mild, stable climate offers an average temperature of 30ºC in summer and 14ºC in winter. Around 300 sunny days a year light up the sunny resort of Camp de Mar.
