Our group of six adults had the pleasure of renting Mark and Star's home for a one week stay in May 2019. The view from the villa is breathtaking and the village is simply charming - although a bit tough to navigate by car. We learned to navigate on foot and left our car at the edge of town (very short walk to/from villa). Take the time to trek up to the castle and enjoy the view. Day trips to nearby towns were also a highlight. As was tapas/happy hour in the village! This is a perfect spot to unwind for a week. The pool was a treat given the heat the week we were there! Thanks Mark and Star!

Wow. Stayed in Mark and Star's wonderful hillside oasis in August 2017, it was an amazing holiday experience. We were two couples and 3 teenagers. The property was more than big enough for us all, big comfortable rooms, great facilities etc. Outside the terraces, the garden, the views and the pool were just wonderful. At times it just takes your breath away, looking across mountains, the valley, out to Africa, sitting by or lazing about in a brilliant pool. The scenery was made all the more amazing coupled with sounds of the odd goat or horse and with the flight of some graceful and inspiring 'vultures'...yes who knew vultures were graceful! The town is small and quiet, though there are plenty of places to eat, buy groceries etc. The standard of cooking in several local restaurants was as good as you will find anywhere and the service matched, attentive, personal and original. A short week felt (in a very good way) like a much longer recharge, as you just take time and calm to the pace of warm mountain living. Of course every now and again we just went a little crazy in the pool, diving through rings, playing Marco Polo and having the underwater Olympic challenges....that's what teenage boys and Dads need. From the first time I contacted the owners till the minute we had finished are holiday (and beyond actually, thanks Mark) the owners were fantastic. Couldn't praise this place more highly. Thank you for a stay we will always remember.

We come every year but have not left a review for a while. Djebel Musa is a beautiful, peaceful haven with stunning views located a 5 minute walk from places to eat or drink should you wish to venture further. The space is so well designed that you can spend as much time relaxing alone as you wish but can also make use of the large, outdoor communal spaces when you all want to get together and socialise against the backdrop of views that stretch to the rock of Gibraltar and the north African coast beyond. The tough part is you want to come every year:)

Nestling in the rocky crags 50 minutes from Ronda the large medieval village (or small town) of Gaucin forms a triangular shape one side of which overlooks the most fabulous view of the pillars of Hercules, Gibraltar and Djebel Musa, in Africa. The house is built at the very edge of the town and has uninterrupted, fabulous views interrupted only by cry of a pair of eagles hunting, the sound of goats bleating in the distance and a sensory overload of various birdsong. The house itself is beautifully designed, decorated and built, three main double en-suite bedrooms, a large sitting room the focus of which is a working fireplace, an interior dining area adjacent to the well appointed large kitchen and doors leading from both main reception rooms to the long, wide balcony which offers two dining areas overlooking the fabulous view. External staircases descend to the studio bedrooms which share a shower room and toilet, and further down the pool area. The 'infinity' pool shares the same fabulous view and is surrounded by areas where you can sunbathe and take shade. There are many interesting little areas around the grounds where you can site privately and read. On the gallery entrance to the top bedroom is an ample holiday library - you'll find something to keep you occupied. We were a party of 9 adults and a six month old baby. We had a wonderful stay for the last week in May. The weather can be dicey this time of year - on the whole we enjoyed hot days but some cold nights. However we lit a roaring fire and we're happy to sit in front of it reading and/or watching favourite DVDs from the generous collection Mark and Star provide. My only reservations would be that the house is unfortunately not suitable for toddlers unless they are watched constantly and whatever you do don't hire a nine seater vehicle - Gaucin (although navigable) is not for the feint hearted driver. Locals all terribly friendly. Supermarkets all handy and selling good produce - meat and wine. Local restaurants vary in quality and price but you'll find somewhere to eat out with little problem. Thanks to Mark and Star for the privilege of allowing us to rent your beautiful home. We had a wonderful holiday here.

Thank you for your kind review. We share your sentiments when we are there - sadly not frequently enough. We have had toddlers staying with us too - and as you say it does require full time supervision which may not be feasible for some clients. We will emphasise again the challenges for large vehicles in our 'navigation notes' - there is a different route to exit the village for trucks but it still requires a lot of concentration for the uninitiated. Mark and Star
