Our comfortable well-equipped ground floor 2 bedroomed apartment with communal pool(open from 1st May-30th September) and underground parking provides everything you need for a great holiday. There is everything you need on your doorstep without the need for a car if you dont want the worry of driving.
The apartment is in a modern 5 storey complex in a residential town street with a convenient corner shop that is open late. Supermarkets, banks (cash machines), internet/phone shops, buses and taxis and bars are all within 3-4 min walk plus the popular Bar Carlos with live entertainment is 5 mins walk.
The harbour, new marina, church square and centre of town 12-15 mins walk with plenty of restaurants and bars.
You enter the building into an attractive foyer with artificial plants and blue mosaic tiled pillars. It is pushchair/wheelchair friendly and secure with atractive decorative gates outside and an entryphone system for visitors. The apartments are owned mainly by Spanish people who are friendly and welcoming with several owned by English.
On entering the apartment the bathroom is on the left - this is attractively tiled and fitted with a bath, efficient shower over the bath, basin, bidet and toilet with mirror over the basin and shaving point.
The kitchen is next on the left. This again is attractively tiled and has all the essentials - hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer and fitted with clingfilm/foil dispenser, mug hooks and utensil rail to make the most of the space. An open arch looks onto the lounge and balcony.
The lounge has a dining area with table and 4 chairs, sideboard, comfortable sofa, TV/DVD player, CD/Radio player with a small selection of CD's and DVD's and the air conditioning unit (operated by 10 euro cards obtained from our manging agent)with patio doors leading to the balcony overlooking the communal swimming pool area (pool open May-September).
The balcony has a table and 2 chairs with 2 fold-up stools .
The main bedroom has a double bed (new luxury mattress bought Nov 2011), a full length mirror, a fitted wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets with lamps providing ample storage.
The second bedroom has 2 twin beds with a single combi-wardrobe and bedside cabinet with patio doors to the useful utility area with a pull-out washing line and large plastic cupboard to store beach equipment (lilo's, swimming rings) and pushchairs etc. You can also use the communal washing lines on the roof to dry towels/clothes if preferred.
We can arrange cots, baby equipment and car hire on request.
Our parking space is in the basement and can be accessed by stairs or lift.
There is a large weekly market every Friday which is right outside the apartment and therefore there is NO PARKING FROM THURSDAY EVENING.
We have an efficient and reliable person to manage the apartment and does airport pickups. For those making their own way to the apartment he does a "meet and greet" service where he gives you the keys and shows you around the apartment and the parking space (if required). Alternatively there is a great new bus service, which started last year, direct from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja Bus Station which is just 3 minutes walk from our apartment! They run every 2 hours (journey takes 45 minutes) and cost under 7 euros per person each way. The first bus leaves the airport at 8 am.
There are several fiesta's during the year. A couple of our faviourites are Ferio de Mayo (usually the first weekend in May) - a very spectacular, colourful and lively few days. The funfair is removed and replaced with a stage and casetas (like small marquees). On the opening day the spanish arrive in traditionalflamenca costume on horseback and dancing in the streets. Each caseta has a small stage and bar - there is lots of dancing and in the evening there is entertainment on the big stage. Another favourite is the Hogouras, on or near the longest day of the year. This is when you go down to the beach in the evening with food, drink and chairs and the spanish build bonfires and jump over them and there are big groups of families and friends eating and drinking until midnight and then there is a lovely firework display. Really great experience sitting on a packed beach at midnight! The carnival is in February and Easter is very special with paso's depicting different biblical scenes (floats)being carried by men and women called cofradia. One of which is an international cofradia carrying a paso lifted by 100 men. For this years dates of Fiestas look at the Torrevieja Tourism website.
