“Casa Pi” is a beautiful masia-style country house set in extensive grounds of 16,000 square meters (4 acres). You approach the house by driving along a quiet paved road serving just 5 houses which leads you through an olive grove. Then it's through the imposing gates and up a 200m long private driveway through the gardens. You will be stunned by the scale of the house with it's huge archway a full 3 floors high on the front elevation. The fully fenced swimming pool measures a generous 12m x 6m and is not overlooked by another property. The gardens slope gently away from the house and are mainly grass with mature trees around the edge and exotic palms and shrubs dotted around. A row of pine trees gives the house its name (Casa Pi means Pine House in Catalan). There is also a children's play area. From the house and gardens there are fantastic views of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees.
Comfortably sleeping 10/12 people, with 5/6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (plus an additional toilet), it is ideal for 2 families sharing. There are spacious and cool reception rooms on both the ground floor and on the first floor which have antique furniture and rustic ornaments. The fully fitted kitchen with top quality appliances and a full inventory of equipment is through an arch to one side of the first floor. At the front of the house on the first floor there is a wide balcony shaded by the huge archway where you can eat overlooking the gardens and enjoy the panoramic views to the sea.
Dogs are very welcome at no extra charge and there is an enclosed area with kennels. The whole property is fenced.
Casa Pi is located approximately 1km from the traditional Catalan village of Palau Saverdera where you will find a small supermarket, butcher, bakers' and several restaurants. As it is just 4km and 4 minutes' drive to the nearest beach, 3 minutes to the nearest supermarkets, it is perfectly located to chose between a beach holiday or getting away from it all around your own pool. Roses, a beautiful seaside town with all the amenities you need, is about 5 minutes' drive away.
The surrounding countryside of the Cap de Creus National Park means you can walk for miles from the gates of the house along quiet trails to local villages, passing through olive groves and vineyards and with fabulous views all the way. A short drive takes you to the spectacular scenery to the North of the Bay of Roses, where wooded cliff walks lead to isolated coves (including the one where the world famous EL Bulli restaurant is situated), or to any part of the long sandy beach which curves around the bay from Roses to L'Escala. Historical towns and villages like Cadaques and Figueres, both linked with artist Salvador Dali, are scattered around. Also nearby are the protected nature reserves of the Aiguamolls wetlands and the Medes Islands. It is a great place for walking, cycling, birdwatching and horseriding. Watersports include kite surfing and scuba diving, and you can rent boats and jet skis with or without a license. Just 5 to 10 minutes from the villa you will find Aqua Brava water park, a go-kart track and the Empuriabrava sky diving centre. Perelada golf course is about 15 minutes by car, several others within 1 hour. In winter it is possible to ski within 2 hours driving. Located about 30 minutes from the French border.

Bedroom 6: a small room with single bed. Window with hill views to the West. Wood shutters.
Between these bedrooms is:
Bathroom 2: Large shower, wc, bidet, basin. Window to West.

Also on the ground floor is access to laundry room with washing machine and separate tumble dryer.

FIRST FLOOR:
8m x 5m living room with large dining table and seating for 12. Open fireplace. Fully glazed wall to South with doors through to spacious dining terrace. Spectacular views from here across the Aiguamolls Nature Reserve to the Bay of Roses.
Doorway and arch lead from main room to:
Kitchen: Fully fitted with luxury stainless steel appliances including very large fridge freezer, dishwasher and range-style oven, hob and extractor. Windows to the North and East fitted with mosquito blinds. Plenty of storage space and food preparation areas, and all the equipment you will need to make this a home from home.
To one side of main room is:
Bedroom 1: 150cm double bed. Glazed double doors with wooden shutters open to South. Sea views. Glazed double doors with wooden shutters to main balcony. Wardrobe. Private bathroom with shower, wc, basin, window to East.
On the opposite side of the main room is:
Bedroom 2: 140cm double bed. Glazed double doors with wooden shutters open to South. Sea views. Glazed double doors with wooden shutters to main balcony. Wardrobe.
Bedroom 3: 140cm double bed. Fitted wardrobe. Window with wooden shutters and mountain views to West.
Between bedroom 2 and bedroom 3 is:
Bathroom 1: Full size bath with shower attachment. WC, basin. Window to West.

SECOND FLOOR:
Cloakroom with WC and basin.
Bedroom 5: Large open room in the eaves measuring 8m x 5m sleeping 4 or more. Eye level windows run down the full length of the room on each side giving superb views to the Bay of Roses on one side and the Pyrenees on the other. To the South, a small balcony leads off this bedroom with views through the archway to the gardens and pool.
Note that this bedroom does not have wardrobes, or shutters or curtains, but is ideal as a dormitory style room for the younger members of your group.

OUTSIDE:
Private, secluded swimming pool is just a few metres from the front door and on the same level. 12m long and 6m wide with curved built-in steps to the shallow end. Depth ranges from 90cm to 2m. Fully fenced for your children's safety.
Also on the same level as the pool is a very large brick-built and tiled table and bench set which seats 16 people.
Gas barbecue.
Ample parking.
Dog enclosure with kennels.
Children's play area with slide and climbing ropes.
Garden is mainly grass and slopes gently downwards.

GOLF
The nearest golf course is at Perelada (18 holes, par 71, 5990m) which is 10 miles or 15 mins drive.
Other major courses include: Torremirona, 20 miles or 30 mins, Playa de Pals, PGA Golf de Catalunya, Emporda, all within 1 hour approx.

SKI
Usually possible from December to March. Several resorts to choose from in Spain or France within about 2 hours drive, making it a reasonable day trip. Spain: La Molina, Masella, Nuria, Vallter 2000. France: Font Romeu, Pyrenees 2000, Les Angles. Andorra is about 4 hours drive.

Pay by bank transfer, or by credit card via Paypal. €500 deposit required per week when booking. Final balance and €800 security/breakage deposit due 8 weeks before arrival. Security deposit returned within 2 weeks of departure if property is left in an acceptable condition. Property cleaned prior to arrival. Final cleaning charge of €190 payable with final balance. Bed linen and towels provided. Please bring beach towels. Mid stay clean can be arranged at a small extra cost. Dogs welcome at no extra cost but must be pre-booked.

We came to Roses from England and loved the area so much we decided to buy a villa here. We completely renovated our villa, Villa Mirador, and have been renting it out in the Summer since 2009. We now also rent villas in Roses and the surrounding villages on behalf of friends.
