Fuengirola is located just 20km west of Malaga airport between Malaga city and Marbella. It is one of the major tourist development on Costa del Sol whit impressive beaches spread over a length of 8 km. apart from the central marina area from where you can take part in a selection of water sports. Surprisingly in such a tourist centre you´ll still see fishermen out on their small trawlers each morning catching your evening meal. Should you frequent one of Fuengirola´s seafood restaurants than the morning´s catch can becomes the evening specialty. No need for the less adventurous visitor to be afraid as there´s plenty in the way of pub grub and fish and chip shops! You can pass many hours wandering along the long promenade stopping at the many bars and cafés. You also can visit the remains of the Moorish castle of Sohail on the western edge of the resort. Tuesday and Saturday is the day for shopaholics when the weekly market is set up in the centre of town.
SPORT & RECREATION: If you´re feeling energetic enough you´ll find plenty places from where you can go windsurfing or scuba diving. Fuengirola is very popular with golfers as it is ideally located for access to a wide selection of courses on Spain´s "Costa del Golf". There´s a zoo as well as a water park. By night there´s no shortage of restaurants, bars and disco´s to suit every taste and pocket.
ANDALUSIA – COSTA DEL SOL: Costa del Sol or "The Sunny Coast", more Spanish is almost impossible. Wide sandy beaches, most of them cleaned every day and with all the services that only a great Spanish beach can offer; bars, restaurants, showers, beach umbrellas, beach beds, palm trees, children´s parks, special access for the disabled, lifeguard services, policing, water sports and much more. On the Costa del Sol There is something for all the family, including the children and young people. One of the best wildlife parks on the European continent is Selwo Aventura, in Estepona. Here you will find more than 200 species of animals from all over the world. Selwo marina situated in Benalmádena is the maritime version, having the only penguin aquarium in Spain. In Benalmádena you also find the famous Tivoli Park, whit attractions of all kinds for all the family. From the Tivoli Park one can ride to the top of Mount Carramolo in a modern cable car, to enjoy breathtaking views over the entire coastline. But there are also aspects of the Costa del Sol that can´t be easily listed under tourist attraction categories. These are the beauty of the landscape, the friendliness of the people, and the many cultures that have passed through this region over many centuries, each leaving something of their culture behind. This is something we can all enjoy in this privileged corner of the world.
