An enchanting and unique detached former olive farmers Casa Cueva on the outskirts of the village of Fontanar. An easy drive takes you to Baza, Guadix or Granada City.

A feature of this romantic old house is that the rear rooms have been cut out of the rock face. This gives a unique holiday experience and a taste of ancient rural Spanish life.

The lounge has a high vaulted ceiling with exposed terracotta pantiles. A large Andalucian fireplace provides warmth on the cooler winter evenings.
The large terrace has a Moorish style pool with a traditional wall fountain flanked by two ancient olive trees and Yuccas.

Casa del Fuente has wonderful views over olive groves and a Roman aqueduct with the beautiful snow capped Sierra Nevada mountains as a backdrop.

Fontanar is a traditional Andalucian village where time stands still. A short walk takes you to a restaurant, bar and 2 small supermarkets. Fontanar also has a viewing point (mirador) - the views over valleys, fields and mountains are absolutely breathtaking.

The area is rich in wildlife with the Sierra Cazorla National park close by. You can expect to see eagles, vultures, kites and wild boar. A 10 minute drive will take you to the magnificent Lake Negratin, one of Europes largest lakes. Lake Negratin is stunning with its turquoise waters and a backdrop of towering red cliffs. The lake provides excellent swimming and there are pedaloes for hire. On the lakeside there are beaches and restaurants and also wonderful thermal springs, used since Roman times, which you can relax in after a sumptuous Andalucian lunch in the adjoining restaurant.

If you wish to explore, then you can visit Baza or Granada City, home of the Alhambra Palace. There are also many typical Andalucian towns and villages to visit.
The surrounding countryside is stunning so remember your camera!
Casa del Fuente has 3 bedooms and sleeps 6 in comfort. There is also a lounge with DVD player and a selection of films for all the family. A dining room with an 8 foot rustic antique table which seats 8. A modern fitted kitchen with washing machine. Two bathrooms.
The house is decorated in traditional Andalucian style and furnished with an eclectic mix of antique and ethnic furniture.
