Lovely townhouse built in traditional Spanish style in the wonderful seaside village of San Juan de los Terreros, just a short stroll to the Mediterranean Sea and away from mass tourism. There is a lot of outside space, which means you can make the most of the wonderfully mild climate. The house is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and more and sleeps up to 6 people, plus infant/toddler, comfortably. The house can also accommodate larger family groups of up to 8 people, plus infant - please email me for more details.
The front door opens into a spacious living/dining room, with 2 leather sofas, one armchair, dining table and 4 chairs, TV (English & Spanish channels), DVD player, CD player/radio plus iPod docking station, and there are also DVDs, books and games for guests to use. Along from the living area is a modern and well-equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher. The utility area is outside, which houses the washing machine. The dining table is extendable and extra seating can be brought in from the rear garden, should it be needed, but most of the time you will be eating al fresco!
On this level there is also a twin bedroom with fitted wardrobe. A lovely shower room, with walk in shower, completes the ground floor.
Upstairs via the marble staircase you will find the spacious master bedroom and a lovely family bathroom, with shower over the bath. The second bedroom, a good-sized twin, is also on this level, along with a door to the balcony. The balcony overlooks the communal garden and has views of the surrounding mountains.
Another marble staircase leads up to a spacious roof terrace (solarium), which is approx 30 sq mtrs, and has views to the mountains and partial views to the sea. It is equipped with sunloungers for catching the rays all day long. As the house is an end of terrace, there is a garden area to the front and side, with an enclosed rear garden, which has a large table and 6 chairs, a barbeque and is also ideal for young children, as it is secure. There is also a smaller table and 4 chairs that can be put at the front of the house, or wherever needed. So many places to sit outside, you will be spoilt for choice! Parking is not a problem either, with plenty of street parking. There is a play area just across from the house, and places to sit or take a stroll. The Sunday market is held just a short stroll from the house.
You will have use of the communal swimming pool, which is enclosed for safety. The larger pool is accessed by steps and there is a small toddler pool, with plenty of space around the pools to relax. Please note: the pool is only open May to September.
San Juan de los Terreros is in the Costa de Almeria, which is the warmest and driest part of mainland Europe, and has, thankfully, missed the over development of some of the other Spanish Costas. It has miles of unspoilt countryside and beaches, including the Tabernas desert: the only desert in mainland Europe. Here you can visit Oasys (formally Mini Hollywood), where many spaghetti westerns were filmed.
Literally a short stroll from the house will bring you to the wonderful beaches of this idyllic seaside village, which is very popular with both Spanish and Northern Europeans alike. As San Juan is in a bay it creates calm, safe bathing and there are many little coves to explore, most with sandy beaches. The beaches also slope gently into the sea and so are suitable for all the family. The paseo (promenade), bars, restaurants and two supermarkets are all within a short walk. Along the paseo are play areas, table tennis tables, a basketball court, cafe/bars and toilets. You can arrive from the airport and never need to leave this beautiful village, if that’s what you want, as everything you need is here. Just split your time between the pool, the roof terrace and the beach, and relax! However, we would advise you to rent a car from the airport and then you can take in some of the many delights this region (Almeria) and the neighbouring region (Murcia) have to offer, including the many colourful markets and fiestas. Panoramic views of San Juan can be had from the castle, which sits on a hill overlooking the bay. Well worth a trip up there, preferably by car!
San Juan is situated at the furthest point north in Andalusia, on the Costa de Almeria, very close to the borders of the Murcia region. Only 9 kms north of San Juan, and a lovely drive along the coast road, is Aguilas, which is in the Murcia region. It is a large town and the facilities reflect that, such as the newly built shopping mall, Aguilas Plaza, with a large Eroski hypermarket. The beachfront area is beautiful, with its marina, and there is a castle with far-reaching views.
To the south are the larger towns of Vera and Mojacar. Both of these towns have long stretches of beaches and a lively night life. Mojacar pueblo is a charming white-washed village perched on a hill and is well worth a visit. Vera playa is home to an Aqua Park. The wonderful city of Granada is only a 3 hour drive, for those who wish to venture further afield, with many historic and interesting towns/cities to visit nearer to the house, such as Cartegena and Lorca.
There are so many wonderful places to visit and discover you will never be bored, not to mention the miles of beautiful sandy beaches along this coastline. Once you have discovered Almeria, and San Juan in particular, you will be smitten forever.
Linen and towels are included in the rental cost - you will only need to bring beach towels. Also provided are a hairdryer, parasols/beach chairs, cool box, clothes horse (clothes line in the garden too), a travel cot and McLaren pushchair, with sunshade and footmuff.
NB: There is no extra cost to use the baby equipment - cot sheets are provided.
*Please note and respect our wish that smoking is not permitted inside the house. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
The house is well appointed, has everything for a comfortable stay and I hope you will appreciate the attention to detail that has been put into the house. It is often the little things that are so often overlooked that we have striven to include. It all adds up to excellent value for money.

Terreros, as it is known locally, will have its own golf course in the future, which is to be located in the centre of the village. However, you will be spoilt for choice in this area. Mundo Aguilon is the nearest at the moment; a stunning and challenging course situated just below the Aguilon Mountains, which overlook San Juan’s bay (you can see it from the house).
Others in the area: Desert Springs is the only desert golf course outside the US. It is a 5* golf resort and is only a short drive away.
