Local attractions include:
Salobrena is a whitewashed town which clings to a huge piece of rock just back from the coastline. It is a magical place, often called The Jewel of the Costa Tropical, with winding streets and the smell of geraniums. At the top of this massive rock is a Moorish castle, whilst discovering it’s mysteries you can experience spectacular views across lush sugar cane plantations and on to the beautiful beaches beyond.
The vibrant city of Granada, with its enchanting Alhambra Palace, can be reached in 45 minutes. Just over an hour away is the international ski-resort of Sierra Nevada which is among Europe's highest and most snowsure resorts and known as Spain's favourite snow playground in the sun.
Other areas of interest include the fishing port in Motril, Almunecar and the Tropical Valley, the Contraviesa and the Guajares Routes, all only a stones throw from Salobrena.
Local activities include:
Windsurfing, beach volleyball, deep-sea angling, rod fishing and Scuba diving all take advantage of the wonderful coastal location.
The beautiful and spectacular countryside can be explored on foot using the natural footpaths, or across the rugged terrain on horseback or mountain bikes. The more adventurous can explore from the air by helicopter, parascending or hang-gliding or you could take part in an ascent of the Boca del Dragon or a guided survival excursion!
Alternatively, you can have a relaxing round of golf at the charming Eighteen hole course five minutes east out of town at Campo de los Moriscos.
