This is the ideal situation for a perfect relaxing all year round holiday. The climate is sub tropical, sheltered from the northern winds by the Sierra Nevada and close to the coast of Africa. The scenery is amazing – drive up to the Alpujarras and visit the whitewashed villages in the areas made famous by Chris Stewart in his books `Driving over Lemons` and ‘Parrot in a Pepper Tree’, visit the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada, the impressive caves at Nerja or the town of Almunecar 20 minutes along the coast with it`s Roman history, Tropical Bird Park, Aqua Park, large Friday Market & The First Saturday in the Month Flea Market.
Local sports in the area include walking/hiking, horse riding, bird watching, mountain biking, 4x4 safaris and excursions, quad biking, scuba diving, swimming, snorkelling and climbing activities. Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy the facilities soon to be available on the nearby reservoir created by the dramatic and newly constructed Rules Dam. Skiers and surfboarders are catered for from November to April at the `Sol y Nieve` in the Sierra Nevada mountains. It is possible to ski in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon.
Located in the Moorish village of Velez de Benaudalla, situated at the foothills of the Alpujarra mountains, this large 3-storey, 3-bedroom Andalucian style house is only a 15 minute drive to the beaches of the Costa Tropical & Motril Golf Course and a 50 minute drive to the Sierra Nevada mountains and it’s ski resort.
Our house sits in a unique and elevated position in the village and has stunning, panoramic views of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the village and the Moorish Castle. The house is not on a complex and our neighbours are all Spanish residents. The house is comfortably furnished, spacious and the top floor is dedicated to a large private roof terrace with a 6-seater hot tub.
The village itself is an authentic and typically Spanish village where you will find genuine tapas bars, traditional restaurants typical of the Andalucian region, together with supermarkets, banks, pharmacy, doctors, takeaway foods and the bakery even makes daily deliveries around the village! The new municipal swimming pool on the edge of the village opened in August 2010. Velez is best known for its waterways and Casa Jardin Nazari, a unique example of an Arabic garden and displays the remains of a medieval house and orchard.
ACCOMMODATION DETAILS
Sleeping accommodation (3 double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room) and a family bathroom are situated on the ground floor, accessed from a large entrance hall. A travel cot is provided. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and heating and both bathrooms have heated towel rails. All ground floor windows are fitted with insect screens and the traditional wrecker bars. A hair dryer is provided and there is an in-built safe for valuables.
The first floor comprises a cloakroom; glazed double doors leading to a very spacious, light and airy lounge with open fire, DVD and satellite TV, ceiling fans and heating. The lounge has 3 settees and there is a selection of books, games, DVDs, CDs and maps for guest use.
An archway leads to a large exceptionally well equipped family kitchen/dining room to include oven & hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and dining table/chairs for 6. Double doors lead to the kitchen terrace which is kitted with a large BBQ and patio furniture. This is the ideal place for enjoying a leisurely breakfast whilst looking at the Sierra Nevada mountains and, because it is out of the sun, keeps its coolness for those wishing to get away from the Spanish heat of the day.
The second floor is dedicated to the large and private roof terrace with 6-seater hot tub, BBQ, patio furniture & sunbeds, shady area, uninterrupted views and that all-important fridge for replenishing those cold drinks. (Also cool box and ice packs provided should you not wish to move from the hot tub or sun beds!) The hot tub temperature can be controlled by guests so it can be heated for the winter or cool/refreshing for the summer.
There is a charge for electricity used between October and March.

"So relaxing to sit in the jacuzzi and gaze at the snow on the mountain peaks”
“We spent a lot of time at the house. It is very tranquil, luxurious, yet still homely. Very well equipped (I challenge you not to find whatever you need here!) and attention to detail and cleanliness is very apparent”
“Brilliant idea to provide cool box and ice packs – so useful for days out”
“We particularly liked the two terraces, one for sunbathing and one for cooling off. We spent many evenings on both, drinking copious amounts of wine/beer and eating local cheeses and breads”
"Just to say thank you for letting us rent your lovely villa, had a lovely holiday and I am sure we will be booking further holidays with you again. PS the directions to the villa were excellent, as was Mike’s help”
"Your house is cool and amazing views from the jacuzzi!”
“A big thank you to your management company, nothing was too much trouble for them, including our constant questions to them as it was our first visit to Spain. We will definitely book again.”
