In a designated area of outstanding natural beauty sits Villa El Cortijuelo; offering you complete privacy, peace and tranquility. Penny, Alexandra and Mike would like to invite you to enjoy the 10m x 6m swimming pool, the barbecue terrace and the landscaped gardens, without onlookers, disturbances or distractions.


LOCATION
Villa El Cortijuelo provides a beautiful rural setting to your holiday, overlooking the rolling Spanish countryside and the Rio Grande River. The Villa is accessed via a mile long country track – peace and quiet are guaranteed!

But just 15 minutes drive from the Villa and you’ll be in the charming town of Coin. Coin retains a strong Spanish feel with traditional bars, restaurants and a Saturday market. In the centre of town you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere, some fabulous tapas bars and local Spanish shops. On the outskirts you’ll find 2 large supermarkets and a shopping mall.

Coin is just 35 minutes by car from Malaga airport, along main (if winding!) roads. The closest point of the Costa del Sol coast is Marbella which is a 30 minute drive, and it’ll take you 40 minutes to reach the millionaire playground and bustling nightlife of Puerto Banus. There are plenty more options for a day out within a drivable distance of the Villa should you want a change of scene: Gibraltar, Granada and the ski resort of Sierra Nevada are all within 2 hours drive, and Seville is 3 hours away.

Closer to home, Alhaurin El Grande is 20 minutes away and like Coin, it’s a bustling market town (on Thursdays) and has more great restaurants and bars. Monda is 10 minutes from Coin and its Moorish Castle is a fabulous spot to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset. You’ll find award winning golf courses within a short drive too.


THE GARDEN, POOL & TERRACES
Back at home (and you’ll probably find you don’t want to be away too often!) the 10m x 6m swimming pool is for your sole use and is kept fabulously appealing by the filtration system and weekly maintenance. The pool has step (not ladder) access, a shallow and deep end, and an irresistible lure day or night.

We’re sure you’ll also enjoy each of our 3 outside terraces. The newest is our barbecue area with a built-in barbecue and a marble table that will comfortably seat 6. We also have a dining terrace with another 6-seat table next to the house offering a bit more light for evening reading, or a bit more shade during the day. The roof terrace is the third and offers a change of scenery to take in the breathtaking views, or just to work on the tan.

A landscaped grass garden links the Villa, the pool and the barbeque terrace and runs up to a reading area shaded by our established weeping willow tree. Surrounding all of this is our newly planted (but surprisingly already-established) olive grove and our not-so new fig trees. Help yourself to the figs and other fruits and nuts you’ll find around the Villa gardens.

If you enjoy walking, doing so along the banks of the Rio Grande - under the eucalyptus trees and daytime sun or nighttime stars - makes for something special.


INSIDE THE VILLA
Villa El Cortijuelo offers spacious Spanish architecture to keep downstairs cool even in the height of summer. Upstairs each bedroom has air-conditioning – just one of the modern amenities that will make your holiday as comfortable as can be.

The open plan living and dining area has Sky TV and a UK DVD player, as well as enough sofa space for all guests to relax comfortably. The indoor dining table has 6 chairs too.

We’ve recently put a marble worktop in the kitchen and here you’ll find: fridge, freezer, dishwasher, gas oven, gas hob with paella stove, microwave, kettle and toaster plus all the pots, pans, glasses and cutlery you'll need during your stay. There’s a washing machine in the downstairs toilet room.

Upstairs is a reading area on the landing and three bedrooms. The Master bedroom has 2 double beds (dressed as one 8ft bed for pure luxury), built-in wardrobes, and don’t forget that air-con. The Master’s private en-suite bathroom has a bathtub, shower, toilet and sink. The roof terrace can be accessed from the Master bedroom.

Our other two bedrooms are twin rooms, each with two single beds that can easily be pushed together for couples, each with air-con. One of the rooms is connected to the second bathroom that has a shower, sink and toilet. This bathroom is also accessed from the landing and therefore serves both of the twin bedrooms. The other twin room has direct access to the roof terrace.

Notes spéciales
ON ARRIVAL
You’ll need to arrange a hire car independently and there are many operators based out of Malaga airport. Although it’s by no means essential, some of our guests opt for a 4x4 vehicle since the track to the Villa is a little bumpy. We promise a bumpy ride is a very small price to pay for the reward at the end.

Our Spanish maid speaks good English and will meet you in the centre of Coin to show you to the Villa and give you your keys. Since the last guests left she’ll have cleaned the Villa and changed all the bed clothes, and she’ll have left fresh bath towels for your use. If you stay for 2 weeks, she’ll do the same thing half-way through your stay.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All bed linen and bathroom towels are provided, and are changed at the end of each week of your stay. Please bring your own beach and pool towels though. Cots and highchairs are provided upon request and all rooms are large enough for at least one cot.

Maps of the local area, details about fiestas, places of interest to visit, golf courses, places to take the children, beaches, nature reserves and walks, and lots more information and resources await you in the Villa. If you’d like to do some pre-reading though, we’ll gladly send you copies in advance of your stay.

If you require housekeeping services, this can be arranged at an extra cost (20 euros for the first hour and 7 euros for every hour thereafter). If you do require a driver during your holiday, either to drive you for a night out on the coast and to bring you home in the early hours, or to accompany you on a day trip, this can be arranged with pleasure.

Villa El Cortijuelo will be ready for your occupancy by 14.00 on the day of your arrival, and we ask that you vacate by 10.00 on the morning of your departure.


SECURITY
There have never – in 3 years of living in the property, and 5 years of letting it and holidaying there ourselves – been any issues with security. But we understand that some people will be wary of its private setting. To assure you; bear in mind that over Winter it's important that the property’s security is guaranteed and for that reason the gate, doors and windows are all extremely secure. Of course you can use these features when you go out and when you go to bed - so you will have all the comfort and peace of mind you could hope for.


PETS
Unfortunately we cannot allow any pets at the Villa. Both Alex and Mike are allergic, and we therefore offer the Villa to our guests as pet-free.

Notes spéciales
Prices are fully inclusive of gas, water, electricity, meet and greet in Coin and one towel and bed change at the end of each week of your stay.

If you’d like to enjoy all that Villa El Cortijuelo has to offer, we ask for a 15% deposit to secure your booking, followed by full payment at least 8 weeks prior to your arrival. Unfortunately neither is refundable in the event you cancel your booking and we are not able to find other guests.

At the time of full payment we also ask for a £250 deposit which is fully refundable on inspection of the Villa at the end of your stay, provided it is in the same wonderful condition as you found it.

GBP payment is preffered but we can also accept euro payment, please contact us for the equivalent amount.
