Casa Cumbre, the perfect location if you are looking for peace and tranquillity, the ideal place to unwind and relax and to reconnect with the beauty of nature. Only 50 minutes drive from Malaga airport and 25 minutes from the beaches at Torre del Mar and Caleta del Velez. The local village of Canillas de Aceituno is a 2km drive or 20 minute walk.
Casa Cumbre is a single storey villa, with high vaulted, beamed ceilings, wooden doors and window shutters. The villa is supplied with town water and electricity. Bottled gas is used for cooking and some heating. There are two air conditioning units, one for the lounge and the other in the master bedroom. Both units cool, heat and humidify the rooms.
The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, with plenty of mod cons including a cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and a washing machine. There is a main bathroom off the hallway, complete with full-size bath, separate shower, toilet and basin. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite with shower, toilet and basin. The twin bedroom has two 3’ single beds.
The lounge and dining area seat 4 people comfortably and has a wood-burning fireplace. There is a TV/Video and multi-region DVD player and a digital satellite receiver. We have a wide selection of family movies on either media. There is also a selection of books and games for entertaining.
All bedrooms are well furnished with wardrobes and drawers, each have their heaters or fans for the summer if needed. There is also electric towel rail heaters in the en-suite and main bathroom. All bedlinen and towels are provided, just remember to bring your own beach/swimming towels.
There is an outside covered terrace with sun awnings and a cane table with four chairs. Our secluded and private pool (6m x 4m) can be found down a few steps in the landscaped, mature gardens. The pool is maintained on a weekly basis by a local company. The pool area is walled and gated and there is also a covered pergola to provide some shade if needed, complete with table and chairs. Part of the gardens are fenced and gated, including the driveway. There is ample parking available.
Changeover day is usually on a Saturday, but this is flexible.
For those of you that enjoy nature, photography, painting or writing, then this villa is ideal for you. If you just want to sit and relax, you can watch the local shepherds with their goats, wandering the mountainside, mules with their riders off to tend their vines and olives. Surrounding the villa, there are plenty of grapevines, almond, citrus, avocado and fig trees. The area is very lush and green.
The town is situated on the scenic Mudejar Route, at 645 metres altitude in the foothills of the Sierra Tejada mountain range, on the highest mountain in Axarquia, La Maroma which reaches 2,080 metres. Canillas is the ideal base for walking and exploring. The natural spring from the mountain attracts people from far away due to a belief that if the pure water is drunk, illness is prevented. The village has a population of 2,800.
There are many shops in the village, including two banks, post office, art gallery, various mini supermarkets, butcher, pharmacy and a DIY shop. For eating in the village, there are 3 restaurants; the Bodega, with 2 huge pots outside, serves excellent food in the bar or the restaurant. The Sociedad also serves full meals or tapas and Brensons; which serves a Mediterranean menu. There are various other bars for drinks, tapas or a simple meal.
Lake Vinuela is a short drive away, providing plenty of activities in and around the lake. There is horse-riding not far from the lake, which provides lessons or rides out; to the Moorish Tower and through the mango and avocado plantations.
There are two golf courses within a 30 minute drive, accessible from the A-7/E15 motorway. Both are 18 holes and designed by the Spanish Ryder Cup player Jose Maria Canazares.
