Thanks to its location high up the hills of Calahonda the apartment offers a wonderful view to the sea and surrounding mountains. This apartment is newly delivered in December 2011 and has two spacious terraces. The complex has a communal garden with infinity pool and a large sundeck with sun loungers.

Sitio de Calahonda (abbreviated Calahonda) is located at the Spanish south coast on the border of Mijas and Marbella. The urbanization in typical Andalusian style is situated on a hill in a beautiful green environment. Calahonda is very popular amongst Northern Europeans and the urbanization and its services are many times rewarded with international prizes. From the main entrance near the old fort house Cortijo (now El Campanario) in the pine-clad lower part to the 300 meter high hills with stunning sea views, the authenticity has been preserved as much as possible. The fort house dates from the same period as the watchtowers along the coast and was used as a shelter during the Moorish attacks.

Calahonda belongs to the municipality of Mijas Costa and is about a 30 minutes drive from Málaga Airport (Pablo Picasso).

Puerto de Cabopino, Calahonda´s sheltered harbor, can not be seen from the road and is therefore one of the best kept secrets of the Costa del Sol. Cabopino has many good bars and restaurants and is a short 10 minutes drive from the apartment. From the marina you can walk through to Playa de Artola with beach bars, umbrellas and showers.
The adjacent La Cala de Mijas has wide sandy beaches with chiringuitos (beachbars) and a nice square with several bars, restaurants and shops.
Within fifteen minutes you are in the middle of the beautiful old town of Marbella with promenades, the Arab wall, the Alameda Park and the Plaza de los Naranjos. The narrow streets dotted with orange trees, galleries, boutiques and tapas bars are worth visiting. The fashionable marina of Puerto Banús with fancy clubs and fashion houses is only 20 minutes away.

The Costa del Sol, also known as Costa del Golf with over 50 beautiful golf courses, has 320 sunny days per year. The mild climate with cloudless, deep blue skies and sunshine make it a true year-round destination. The winter months with temperatures around 20° C are ideal to escape from the cold winters of the North, spring and autumn are pleasant to play golf and to soak culture, in the summer with temperatures of 35° C the beaches offer pleasantly cool breezes for watersports or relaxing.

Living space

The built area including public areas contains 103m2. The net surface of this luxury apartment is 77m2 and the total surface of the two terraces is 72m2. A large 49.5m2 terrace with built in barbeque adjacent to the living room has direct view to the sundeck and infinity swimming-pool. Approximately half of the terrace is covered as an extension of the living room and offers comfortable livingspace outside and the remainder is ideal for sunbathing as has virtually sun all day thanks to south orientation. The second terrace of 22.5m2 adjacent to the bedrooms offers a secluded and peaceful location on the rear of the apartment. The open kitchen with bar and lounge with fireplace are very pleasant places to chill as well. The floors are of polished marble and plaster walls in light colors.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

The bedrooms have two beds (90x200cm) that can be placed separately, built in wardrobe and central air conditioning / heating. Bathroom 1 ensuite has bath, shower, washbasin, bidet and toilet. Bathroom 2 has a shower, sink and toilet. Both bathrooms have heated towel rail.

Parking

This apartment has a private parking space in the closed garage under the building and a private storage of 9m2. Access to the complex is closed by an electrically operated gate.


Environment

Close to the apartment are tennis and paddle courts, a horseback riding school, Club de Golf La Siesta (9 holes) and Cabopino Golf Club (18 holes). Other golf courses as Artola Golf, Santa María (Elviria), Miraflores Golf (Riviera del Sol) and La Cala Golf (Mijas) are just a few minutes by car. Calahonda has a WIFI zone. There are 2 medical centres (24 h) and 3 shopping centers Los Cipresses, Los Olivos and El Zoco, with supermarkets, bars, restaurants, boutiques, pharmacies and post office. Calahonda counts many cosy tapas bars and taverns. In the adjacent La Cala de Mijas and Puerto de Cabopino you will also find several good restaurants where you can eat delicious Spanish or international food.

A tourist train runs every hour around the resort. You can hop on and off at different stops along ´the strip´ and is very useful for shopping or visiting the coast. About 500 meters from the apartment at the square El Puente III is a supermarket, ATM, music bar, restaurant and pizzeria/grill/cafeteria/creperia/heladeria ´Mountain Miel y Nata´.
A rental car is needed for the longer distances.

The golden sandy beaches of Calahonda are in some places interrupted by rocks. On the one hand they run on to the port of Cabopino and on the other hand to the beach of La Cala. You would be able to walk along the beach from Cabopino to Marbella.
Ofcourse there is also a regular bus service along the entire coastal strip. This bus rides from Calahonda to Marbella and to Fuengirola.

Calahonda is highly recommendable and thanks to its central location between Marbella and Málaga it´s a good base for your Andalusian discovery tour.

Booked together we can accommodate a group of 8 guests (Property ID´s 12895 and 12900). Calahonda is very popular with holiday makers. Many golf courses, tennis clubs, shopping centres, bars and restaurants. Half an hour of Malaga airport and 10 minutes from Marbella. We are looking forward to welcoming you in sunny Andalucia
