Set in luxuriant gardens with a large swimming pool, El Retiro de Bel Air is a small gated development of luxury two bedroom apartments and penthouses with large terraces and private parking and this property is a spacious penthouse in the prime position, set right at the front with views over the gardens, the mountains and the sea. (and the dogs at the Spanish home next door, which sit on the roof looking out to sea). The terrace is South facing and enjoys sunshine all day and into the evening.
Designed by the famous architect Melvin Villarroel, El Retiro offers the high quality accommodation and superb surroundings that you would expect from one of the Worlds leading residential architects.
El Retiro is located midway between Marbella (and the nearby millionaires’ playground Puerto Banús) and Estepona, a quieter coastal town, well known for having kept its Spanish character. Gibraltar, with its famous rock and apes is just 45 minutes away and the towns of Seville, Cordoba, Cadiz, Jerez and Granada are accessible as day trips, as is the exotic Kingdom of Morocco.
There is plenty of entertainment in the area for families. Very close by is the Selwo Safari Park, which keeps exotic animals in semi-wild conditions. Along the coast towards Malaga are a series of theme parks including the aquapark and crocodile park at Torremolinos and the aquapark and Karting at Mijas Costa; the zoo at Fuengirola and sea life centre and aquarium at Benelmadena and Marbella. For the more active theres Funny Beach at Marbella.
Alternatively, you can just come and chill, either on the terrace or in the gardens by the pool at El Retiro or on the nearby beaches. The Costa del Sol boasts of having 300 days of sunshine a year and the winters are mostly warm or mild making it truly a year round destination.
The property is within easy walking distance of Los Flamingos golf course as well as the Bel Air Tennis club. A 15 minute walk also brings you to the village of Cancelada with its small selection of bars and restaurants. The nearest beach is a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk away, while less than a 10 minute walk away is one of the regions premier Thalasso and Spa Hotels - The Selenza. There is a well stocked supermarket within walking distance together with Banks, more restaurants and bars.
The property has a double and a twin bedroom sleeping up to 4 people with ease. (an extra bed can be arranged if required) The double bedroom has en suite facilities, including a sunken bath and separate shower cubicle, with a small dressing area. The twin bedroom has an adjoining shower room with wash basin and toilet.
There is also a spacious, fully fitted, well equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar opening onto a large living/dining room, with a large terrace which has tables and chairs and two sun loungers for outdoor living. The property has satellite tv, a CD/DVD player and a radio/mp3 player.
Upon arrival at the apartment you will be met by our local representative who will talk you through how everything works in the apartment and generally provide you with any information you may need about the apartment itself and the surrounding area. This service is complimentary between the hours of Monday to Saturday 10am to 8pm but otherwise will incur an extra charge of 69.60 euros.
Our representative can also provide you with a welcome pack on arrival, especially useful if you are arriving on a late flight, as well as assisting with any requirements you may have from baby equipment hire (bookable in advance), car hire, maid service cleaning, restaurant bookings, excursion bookings and so on. You will be given a mobile number to contact our representative at any time in case of emergencies.

It was however perfect, they had their own room with twin beds and loved the fact that they had their own bathroom. The property is easily reached in 40 to 45 minutes from either Malaga or Gibraltar airports and is well placed for visits to Granada, Seville, Cordoba, Cadiz, Jerez and even Morocco on day trips.
