Ca Na Rossa is a secluded stone country house; fully air conditioned, set in extensive gardens, superb views.
Ca na Rossa provides an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful beaches in the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia, and at Cala St Vicente which are only a 20 minute drive away. The traditional villages of Campanet and Buger are just 10 minutes away and lovely Pollensa about 15 minutes. However, it is testimony to the house and gardens that many clients prefer to spend the majority of their holiday relaxing and enjoying an alfresco life around the pool and in the garden, the children enjoy the large swimming pool, playing on the ping-pong table, on the ball in terraces and garden.
Pollenca is a lovely town with many excellent bars and restaurants, sophisticated shops and of historical interest. It is firm favourite with guests for evening dining and can be reached by driving along the quiet Campanet valley road.
Campanet itself is a quiet, traditional village not on the main tourist map; it has 3 bars arount the central square, 2 small supermarkets, several bakeries, a pharmacy and several banks. There is a market there every Tuesday.
The Caves of Campanet are about 1 mile from Ca na Rossa and could provide an interesting break from the summer heat.
Campanet is also home to a famous glass making factory(Menestralia) a pottery business that is unchanged after several generations and a leather outlet store.
The nearby village of Buger on the hill the other side of the motorway, is pretty and traditional with its little stores and weekly market.
Sa Pobla (again off the tourist trail) is an old town which is well worth a visit on Sunday morning for the market and for tapas breakfast.
Of interest to bird-watchers are the wetlands of Albufera, just outside Puerto d'Alcudia. Birds use this as a staging post on their migrations and the waterways and lakes there are fantastic viewing sites with hides and walkways for visitors. There is a visitor centre there with information on what you might see and when.
For the more active guests, there is windsurfing and a water-park in Alcudia, tennis in Campanet, horse-riding at Rancho Grande on the road to Arta. The valley road is one of the designated cycle routes in Mallorca.
Although Palma is not in the immediate vicinity of Campanet, it takes less than 30 minutes to drive (legally) from Campanet to Palma now the motorway is complete. Palma is a beautiful city; lovely buildings, numerous elegant restaurants, bars and cafes, excellent shopping, a huge marina with some of the most expensive yachts - well worth a trip if you can tear yourself away from Fangar.
The ‘old road’ from Campanet to Pollensa is part of a well known cycle route; the section passing close to Ca na Rossa is the final gentle ride before the unforgiving climb to the monastery at Lluc!
Ownership of Ca na Rossa has passed through several generations of the same family and currently rests with Francisca and her children Cati and Jaime, Cati (who speaks English).
To make life even more comfortable, Ca na Rossa has been fitted with modern combined central heating /air- conditioning units in each bedroom. House towels and linen included, Beach towels are not provided; guests are requested to bring their own
Private pool, approx 12m x 6m, surrounded by wide tiled terracing and level grassed areas. Iron poolside table and chairs, ample sun loungers for all guests. Large BBQ, with dedicated stone chimney, set in Mallorcian style pergola. Beyond the formal gardens, land belonging to Ca na Rossa extends over several acres of fields in which there are regular (and interesting) rotations of animals; family horses, goats (of particular interest to families of Newcastle United - because some goats have black and while stipes!), peacocks ...
